- In modern factories, drawing designs using textile design software
- Selecting the colours and designs for making the fabric
- Researching the textile market to predict/create fashion trends for the next season

PREFERRED PERSONAL TRAITS AND SKILLS:
Textile designers should be creative and have strong fashion sense. They need a good eye for detail, shapes and colour. Sound computer-aided drawing skills and the ability to work to customers’ demands are essential to the job. Good communication skills will always be useful. The ability to work as a team and to deadlines is important.
